I've done the switch over from Adobe products to Affinity products recently. What I use now for visual design and illustration:

  • Affinity Designer

I still use Adobe products peripherally but generally affinity programs pretty much gives me everything that I need.

before I got my iPad recently, I made comic, drawing and writing entirely on my phone.  Mainly using free app like Medibang and ibispaintX, and Google Doc and ms. word.

Now even after I move to the iPad, I still use those four cause I'm broke. _(:з」∠)_

I got myself a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 this year, it was so worth it! I love working on it with Paint Tool Sai 2,

it's my absolute favorite program.

Before that I used my old Wacom Bamboo CTH-470 tablet on my PC with Paint Tool Sai 1.

Back in the old days I started with GIMP and Microsoft Paint
